Looking through Craigslist the other day, I found a fun housing option that I just -had to share-- a little off topic, I know, but fun none the less. And because it was just Earth Day it fits!
Dan and Katie in Hawaii are selling Jungle Tent Houses for $3300! The tents are 16' X 20'. Dan and Katie show pictures of their furnished Jungle tent complete with working kitchen, bath, composting toilet. They live their with one child and have another on the way.

I asked them if they had sold any tent houses in the colder states like our chilly Minnesota. According to Katie, "None in colder states yet, though. But they were built for colder climates, with the cotton/wool insulation and wood-burning stove vent."

For them this was a natural transition. "Dan and I bought 4 acres on Hawaii Island and we set one up to live in with our toddler while we build our green cob home (like adobe but more freeform.) We like living in alternative structures. We used to live in a 1978 RV while living in San Diego that we fixed up and called "The Shag Mobile." I guess that's where it all started! In a couple of months we will have a book ready explaining exactly how we set up our off-grid home."
I will be back to business soon.. I will have a new posts soon about what I recently learned about the mortgage debt forgiveness law and recent real estate sales figures and how they may affect people in or on the brink of foreclosure.
